Stanford University's new HIV education software for Assam


TeachAIDS, a non-profit social venture announced that it will soon create new regionally customized versions of its uniquely effective HIV education software in Assam, in cooperation with the Government of Assam, stated a release.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, “We are delighted that TeachAIDS’s new HIV education software will be soon launched in Assam. We were very much impressed with the high level of efficacy demonstrated by these materials and are confident that they will make a big difference in our HIV prevention efforts throughout the State.” Details here

Traffic came to a standstill for hours together in Guwahati on Monday during the rallies organized by the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) and the Nationalist Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in protest against the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) for "spreading canards" against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and the AASU unit of Gauhati University and 26 indigenous organizations against illegal immigrants. Flood in Tihu and Barama blocked the NH way -31road


Flood affected people of 10 villages under Tihu and Barama revenue circles  protested against the failure of District Administration for providing  flood relief materials.


According to the reports, about 1000 flood affected people of villages Suradi, Dipta, Chamoitapara, Deulguri, Barjhar carrying dishes, glasses, bowls in their hands blocked the NH way -31road at Suradi village on Saturday  in  protest  against ....Details here 

Flood in Majuli


The flood situation in Majuli continues to be critical. Almost all offices, schools and colleges have been inundated by flood water today.
The water of the mighty Brahmaputra have also submerged the Majuli Jail and the Civil SDO office at Garamur, along with other offices and schools. As the flood waters entered the compound of Garamur Jail, the Jail authority had planned to shift 41 prisoners to the Jorhat Jail today. However, due to the non-availability of ferry services, the plan had to be postponed for tomorrow. Details here
